WA First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) 2022 – What You Need To Know
As of 2022, the First Home Owners Grant in WA (also commonly referred to as the First Home Buyers Grant) is currently $10,000. Only one person is eligible for the FHOG per transaction, meaning two people purchasing their first home together can only receive one grant. In WA, the First Home Buyers Grant is only available to applicants who are purchasing or building a new home, not an established home.

Who is eligible for the First Home Owner’s Grant?
In order to be eligible for the FHOG, you must be at least 18, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and:
- haven’t received it previously
- haven’t owned a residential property anywhere in Australia before 1 July 2000
- haven’t owned residential property anywhere in Australia on or after 1 July 2000 and occupied that property as a place of residence before 1 July 2004
- haven’t owned residential property anywhere in Australia on or after 1 July 2000 and occupied that property as a place of residence for a continuous period of at least six months that began on or after 1 July 2004.

What’s the most I can spend and still get the FHOG?
The maximum you can spend on your first home to remain eligible for the FHOG is $750,000 in the Perth metro area.
